Exciting Times Ahead of The PGA Championship

Is there anything worth living for after the disappointment at The Open Championship?

Even though the Quicken Loans National might pale in comparison to the recent excitement generated by The US Open, The Open Championship and Jordan Spieth having been on track for the grand slam, there is exciting news for South African golf fans and for golf fans in general!

Retief Goosen’s return to form continues as he shoots 63 to share the first round lead with Ryo Ishikawa (who had a hole in one in his 63). Ernie Els is also up there, only one shot back! Goosen was bogey free and only missed one green in regulation, that’s the kind of golf us mere mortals can only dream of! It definitely bodes well for the PGA Championship!

Tiger watch heats up…

Tiger once again got off to a very shaky start, bogeying three of his first four holes! He managed to bounce back with birdies on five and eight, the two par fives on the front nine. It was the back nine however that caught our interest, Tiger started with four straight birdies and hit all nine greens in regulation! That kind of ball striking should help his confidence but there are still some serious question marks around his short game however, definite signs of the tiger of old which we believe is good for golf!

Dreaming of The PGA Championship

We maybe dreaming here but imagine a PGA Championship with Retief Goosen, Ernie Els, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen, Brandon Grace, Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day and Bubba Watson all in form! They are all showing positive signs so it could happen! We would love to add Rory McIlroy to that mix but his participation is still doubtful, so even if he is there it seems unlikely that he’ll be in top form but we are dreaming here after all!
